bar naan
food detective
Want an exceptional homemade pizza that takes less time to prepare than opening your freezer and popping a subpar store version in the oven?
The trick is to swap naan for pizza dough. Then to top with high quality creamy cheese, freshly ground pepper and a drizzle of honey.

Naan is a leavened oven baked flatbread from India. It is soft, chewy and slightly tangy. It’s charred edges make it a surprising platform for pizza.

For your naan pizza be sure to splurge on top shelf cheese. Grate a small ball of fresh mozzarella. Then tear a couple ounces of taleggio into small pieces.

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Place a baking sheet in the oven to heat. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and top with a piece of parchment paper. Place the naan on the prepared baking sheet.

Drizzle a couple teaspoons of heavy cream over each naan.

Scatter with grated garlic.

Top with the mozzarella, then the taleggio. Grind a generous amount of pepper on top of each.

Bake until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling, approximately 6 to 8 minutes.

Scatter a little finely grated parmesan over the pizza and drizzle with a little honey.

This pizza par excellence is best served straight from the oven and is exceptional with an arugula salad on the side.
